Pouya Taaghol is a passionate engineer and the founder of Big Data Federation. Pouya was the CTO of Cisco’s Smart Home and Intel’s of Mobile Wireless Group where he led technology evolution, intellectual property strategies, ecosystem development, business acquisition, and divesture. Pouya has also held senior technical positions at Motorola and NEC. Pouya holds over 25 issued and pending patents in wireless/networking/security/big data, and 150+ publications and contributions to standards bodies. Pouya holds a BSc from Sharif University of Technologies (Iran) and a PhD from University of Surrey (UK).
Chief Data Scientist
Bita has been working in data science and signal processing fields for the past 20 years. She received her PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from University of California, Santa Cruz, and her MSc and BSc degrees in the same field from Sharif University of Technology. She has authored and co-authored several papers focusing on the usage of probability and information theory in different applications. She is leading a team working on innovative ideas to build novel trading algorithms using a wide range of data. Her expertise lies in data exploration and analysis, optimization, machine learning and deep learning techniques.
Chief Risk Officer
Winston has been working in quantitative investment research and management for over 25 years. He received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Minnesota in the field of Scientific Computation and Numerical Analysis. He has authored and co-authored over 10 research papers on numerical and optimization methods in applied mathematics. Winston started his finance and investment career as a quantitative strategist for Salomon Brothers. Since then, he has held quantitative investment research and management positions in the financial industry at firms including Magnetar Capital and Tudor Investment Corporations. Winston holds a BSc degree in Computational Mathematics from the University of Science and Technology of China.
Vice President, Software Engineering
Corneliu is an experienced software development engineer and architect. He has 20 years of experience in the design, development, and delivery of complex software systems across various areas including finance, networking, cloud microservices, desktop, mobile, cross-platform, and high-performance distributed applications. He has worked on agile and iterative process automation and integration with mixed teams of tech and non-tech members. Corneliu studied in the Republic of Moldova and has a degree in Microelectronics and Automation.
Vice President, Operations
Peter brings 40 years of extensive experience in engineering, sales, marketing, business development and executive leadership in all market segments of the wireless industry, big data, FinTech and SaaS. Previously, he worked for Intel, Marvell, TI, ADC Telecommunications, 7layers USA, and Lucent. In Germany, Peter was also Head of Department of debis AG (Daimler Benz InterServices). He holds an M.S.E.E. degree (University Hagen, Germany) and several patents in the area of indoor radio planning and wireless power distribution.
Chief Financial Officer
Mark Bagby is a start-up financial expert. After founding VC Partners in 1991, he has spent three decades developing teams and solutions to help hi-tech, rapid growth companies. Working with over 100 public and private companies, Mark has collaborated on several IPOs and dozens of M&A transactions focusing on optimal returns for shareholders. Mark holds graduate degrees from Stanford University, Tulane University, Santa Clara University, and the Graduate Theological Union.
Forest joined New Enterprise Associates (NEA) in 1999 as a Venture Partner and became a General Partner in 2004. At NEA he focuses on information technology investments and serves on the Board of Directors for several private companies. Before NEA, Forest was Senior Vice President of R&D and Chief Technology Officer of Silicon Graphics Inc. (SGI). He founded and directed the Western Research Laboratory of Digital Equipment Corporation before joining SGI. Prior to that, he was a Professor of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering at Stanford University and was involved in the design of the original Sun workstation. Dr. Baskett received a BA in Mathematics from Rice University, a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin, and is a member of the National Academy of Engineering.
Marty co-founded the International Securities Exchange (ISE) – the first fully electronic options exchange in the United States. Prior to the ISE initiative, he spent over 25 years working with entrepreneurial ventures and served on the boards of several companies in the financial services industry. He has held various leadership roles with E*TRADE and was the founding President of E*TRADE Capital, a subsidiary. Marty was also a founder, President, and CEO of Adirondack Trading Partners. He was a professor at Hofstra University in the Department of Finance, and received a B.S. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania, and a dual J.D. and M.B.A. degree from the University of Chicago.
